Leda Maria da Costa

Associate Professor at the School of Social Communication at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) and a faculty member of its Graduate Program in Communication. She holds a postdoctoral degree in Communication and a PhD in Comparative Literature, both from UERJ. She is also a researcher at the Media and Sport Studies Laboratory (LEME-UERJ). She is the author of the book Os vilões do futebol. Jornalismo esportivo e imaginação melodramática [The Villains of Football: Sports Journalism and Melodramatic Imagination] (Appris, 2020), and co-organizer, alongside Mariane Pisane and Claudia Kessler, of Women in the Universe of Brazilian Football (University of Santa Maria Press, 2022). She currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Esporte e Sociedade journal.
