Renato Soares Coutinho

Associate Professor of Brazilian Republican History at the Institute of History and the Graduate Program in History at Fluminense Federal University (UFF). He is a researcher with the group Brazil Republic – Researchers in Cultural and Political History (BR-PHCP). He served as Coordinator of the Undergraduate History Program at UFF (Bachelor’s track) from 2021 to 2023 and was Editor of Revista Tempo (UFF) from 2019 to 2021. He holds a PhD in Social History (2013) and a Bachelor’s and Teaching Degree in History (2004), all from UFF, as well as a Master’s degree in Political Science from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2008). His research focuses on the following themes: History of the Brazilian Republic; Vargas Era; History of Brazilian Football; National Identity; and Political Culture.
