José Nilton da Silva Júnior
José Nilton da Silva Júnior is the Development and Projects Coordinator at the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), where he is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of strategic initiatives aimed at the development of football in Brazil. His work involves collaboration with state football associations, clubs, sports organizations, and international governing bodies, including FIFA and CONMEBOL.
He is currently a Ph.D. student in Political History at the Graduate Program in History of the State University of Rio de Janeiro (PPGH/UERJ). His research focuses on the intersections of football, race, and social inclusion in Brazil, with particular emphasis on the historic 1923 “Camisas Negras” team of Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama and its role in advancing the inclusion of Black players and working-class athletes in Brazilian football.
He has extensive experience in sports management, talent development, grassroots football, women’s football, sports governance, and the design and implementation of social impact projects. His academic and professional interests converge on the study of sport as a historical, political, and cultural phenomenon, as well as on the development of policies and strategies that promote inclusion, diversity, and social transformation through football.
