Dr Lucas Santos is a Lecturer at the School of Languages, Literatures, Cultures and Linguistics at Monash University, where his research explores how intercultural capabilities are developed and enacted across community, organisational, and professional contexts. His work sits at the intersection of Cultural Studies, Sociology of Sport, and Intercultural Studies, with a particular focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion in sporting cultures.
His current research examines how difference, belonging, and exclusion are negotiated in Australian sport, including projects on racism in elite football and the changing cultures of community cricket shaped by South Asian migration. Through this work, he investigates how sporting spaces both reflect and contest wider social tensions, and what conditions enable more inclusive sporting environments. He also served as Co-Chair of the Equity and Inclusion Community Consultation Group for Sport and Recreation Victoria (2023–2024).
